News – A tall tale about smart
You'd be forgiven for thinking that someone who is a member of the Tall Persons Club GB & Ireland may not have one of the world's smallest cars on their shopping list when they came to change their car.
Yet as surprising as it may sound a 6ft 7in tall businessman from Devon has downsized his large company saloon car to a smart fortwo. At just over 5ft high and 8 ft 10in in length smart is one of the smallest cars on UK roads. But increased running costs forced the businessman to review his motoring requirements and to look at more cost effective motoring options.
A visit to a local smart dealership and a test drive in a fortwo later, the businessman was not only surprised that he could get into the car, he was so impressed with it, he ordered one there and then.
The appeal of the smart is clear to see. Cheap to tax and insure, with excellent fuel economy, yet still powerful enough and comfortable to handle the businessman’s 20,000 annual miles.
The businessman said: ‘With air con, CD player and automatic transmission it ticks all the right boxes and I find it remarkably comfortable, even when I’ve completed my regular round trip from Devon to my firm’s headquarters in Cambridge’
‘It's great fun to drive’ he added ‘and I never tire of people's reactions when I climb out.’
