Contract Hire News – Mercedes-Benz reveal new interior design
As Mercedes-Benz launches the most innovative contract hire car in its class in terms of advanced passenger protection systems we get a glimpse into the safety technology of the future.
The latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon and the all new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe were launched in showrooms across the country last weekend in a blaze of lights, music and media attention.
The former model is being positioned as ‘the world’s best business saloon’ whilst the latter heralds a new chapter in the Mercedes-Benz sports coupe history book and marks the end of the much loved CLK.
Both new E-Class models feature cleaner, more fuel efficient BlueEfficiency engines, dramatic and individual styling and pioneering safety systems that will be popular with our Mercedes contract hire customers.
As the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class breaks new ground in many areas, including being the world’s more aerodynamic series production car with a drag co-efficient of 0.24, Mercedes have given us a glimpse into technical innovations that could become standard features on the contract hire cars of tomorrow.
The 2009 Mercedes-Benz ESF (short for Experimental Safety Vehicle) concept showcases the latest in safety innovations from the Mercedes research and development team, designed to increase driver, passenger and pedestrian safety on the roads. Based on a Mercedes S 400 Hybrid, the 2009 ESF features more than a dozen proto-type safety systems.
It is only in relatively recent years that Mercedes-Benz created an inflatable air pillow that deployed in the event of an impending accident to cushion driver and passenger in an impact. Airbags are now standard safety equipment on contract hire cars today.
Technology that could monitor if a driver was feeling drowsy or that could keep a car in its lane or the correct distance from the car in front, seemed like the stuff of sci-fi fiction not very long ago too, but now also appear as standard safety features on many Mercedes contract hire cars.
The five major safety systems on the Mercedes-Benz 2009 ESF concept are Pre-Safe Structure, Pre-Safe Pulse, Braking Bag, Adaptive Full-beam Lights and Vehicle Communication. Many of the technologies that Mercedes-Benz is developing today, will be fitted to contract hire cars in the next few years.
When you take delivery of your Mercedes-Benz contract hire car in the future don’t be surprised to see it fitted with rear passenger airbags or even an external airbag, which automatically inflates to slow the car down over a shorter distance using friction.
