Ultra low contract hire rates on a new smart fortwo from City Vehicle Leasing, the discount smart car leasing specialists, make it the cheapest car to contract hire in the UK.
With a smart fortwo pure 61hp micro hybrid drive available to business users from as little as £78.99 (plus VAT) a month* and £90.84 (including VAT) a month on personal contract hire*, the iconic micro-cars from Mercedes-Benz have been literally flying since the start of the year.
Globally it has been an excellent start to the year for smart with sales of fortwo up 4% worldwide in January year-on year. Even more remarkable given the success follows a record year for the smart fortwo in 2008 with sales up 43.3%.
With no sign of the UK’s love affair with the smart fortwo fading an exciting programme of innovative product launches will ensure that demand for smart continues to grow.
Following the launch last year of micro hybrid drive – now standard in 61ph and 71hp fortwo models, a diesel smart fortwo CDi will be available to contract hire in the UK in March. The car has CO2 emissions of just 88g/km - the lowest of any production car in the world. It will be the cheapest car in the UK to tax and, a plus for London based contract hire customers and commuters, it will be exempt from congestion zone charges.
An electric powered smart fortwo, currently on trial in many European cities including London, is scheduled to go into production in 2010. The zero emissions fortwo ed can cover 70 miles on an overnight charge and has a top speed of 60mph.
When smart launched its first fortwo some ten years ago motoring pundits claimed the car would only ever have a limited appeal. As smart celebrates a record start to 2009 it seems the fortwo has finally come of age. Environmentally conscious when everyone is taking more responsibility for the impact they have on the planet, congestion friendly when urban areas are more crowded than ever and parking spaces fewer and farther between, and economic at a time when everyone is watching the pennies. And when car leasing rates make it the cheapest contract hire car in the UK.
