28 April 2009 – Contract Hire News – X-Factor stars visit Mercedes-Benz World
Stars of last year’s X-Factor paid a visit to Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge Surrey recently to take part in an AMG Driving Experience.
Finalists JLS, a four-piece male vocal group, finished in second place in the 2008 talent contest. As a special treat for one of the group’s members the quartet headed to Mercedes-Benz World to take part in an adrenaline filled day driving Mercedes AMG and other models from the Mercedes-Benz range.
Lead singer Aston Merrygold and his fellow band members spent the day at Mercedes-Benz World last weekend to help him celebrate his 21st birthday. Aston, Ortise and Marvin drove the C 63 AMG - one of the official Formula One support cars - on the centre's Handling Circuit and Wet Skid Circuit, learning high performance driving skills from a professional driver.
After the exhilaration of the Mercedes AMG Experience the band members opted for a less high-speed although equally thrilling afternoon on the centre’s 10-acre off-road course. JLS took the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz M-Class to tackle rugged slopes, steep inclines and deep water.
At the end of a memorable day, the group was happy to pose for photos in front of a Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG, sign autographs and chat with fans that were lucky enough to be at Mercedes-Benz World during the unofficial visit.
Taking about the visit birthday boy Aston commented: ‘Since the show finished, we’ve been kept busy with performances, public appearances and, of course, the X Factor tour.
‘That’s why it was great to come down to Mercedes-Benz World with the rest of the band for a day out to belatedly celebrate my birthday.’
JLS had such a good time at Mercedes-Benz World they plan to return in the future. In the meantime the group are finishing their debut single, which will be released in the UK this summer.
The AMG and off-road courses that JLS participated in are part of a package of Driving Experiences available at Mercedes-Benz World. The centre is open daily and admission is free, although there is a charge for some activities, which may need to be pre-booked.
