Contract Hire News – Mercedes-Benz makes first E-Class Coupe sale
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe will be available to contract hire in the UK in June. Already on sale in the home market now, the first person to own an E-Class Coupe has just taken delivery of their new car in Germany.
As is the tradition when buying a new Mercedes-Benz car, owners are invited to collect their car in person from the factory there it was made. The new owner of one of the first Mercedes E-Class Coupes off the production line in Bremen did just that.
Siegfried Moller is no stranger to Mercedes-Benz and it would seem his love for the brand was something he shared with his father: ‘I have been driving Mercedes-Benz vehicles for over 25 years and my father was also a Mercedes customer.
‘Now I’m looking forward to driving my new E 500 Coupe for the first time.’
Until AMG gets its hands on the E-Class Coupe, the E 500 tops the model line-up. So it was very appropriate that the first person to purchase the car that will replace Mercedes’ CLK sports coupe, should choose the range-topping E 500.
Mr Moller opted for an E 500 Coupe finished in Palladium Silver and added an AMG Sports package and COMAND system to the standard specification.
Powered by a V8 engine that delivers a hefty 388hp and 530 Nm torque, the Mercedes E 500 has the performance characteristics of a sports car. The E 500 is the only E-Class Coupe not to have received BlueEfficiency treatment, making fuel economy the least impressive of all the E-Class Coupe derivatives at 25.9 mpg.
Business and personal contract hire customers are likely to choose the more frugal Mercedes-Benz E 350 CDI with 231hp and 386lb ft of torque. The diesel engine and BlueEfficiency package combine to deliver 40.9 mpg and 181g/km CO2 emissions.
