Mercedes’ commitment to sustainable mobility and renewable fuel sources has led them to launch a new human powered vehicle that we believe our car leasing customers would find perfect for their daily commute.
No, we’re not suggesting you contract hire a Sinclair C5 style pedal car. Mercedes’ latest eco-friendly offering is of the two-wheeled kind and part of a new line of Mercedes-Benz branded bikes launched by the German car manufacturer. What differentiates this bike from any other is the fact that in just a few seconds you can fold it and pop it into the boot of your Mercedes contract hire car, carry it easily on a busy train or store it under the bed if you don’t have any outside space at home.
The FoldingBike has a unique, patented mechanism that enables the bike to fold and unfold quickly and easily without the need for any tools. Contract hire customers can fold the bike into one of two positions. When completely folded down the bike measures 80cms x 80cms x 35cms and comes with a carry bag. There is also a Shuttle position where the seat folds into the frame, allowing the bike to be easily pushed along.
With a light-weight aluminum body, 8-speed sequential ‘clutchless’ gearing and disc brakes, the new FoldingBike is built to the same outstanding standard that contract hire customers expect from their Mercedes-Benz cars. A features list includes adjustable gel saddle, ergonomic handgrips, Continental tyres with reflective walls, drop-down stand and thumb flick bell.
At €1699 euros, the FoldingBike doesn’t come cheap; although contract hire customers could find it makes a wise investment. In addition to the ecological and health benefits of using the bike on the final leg of the daily commute, Mercedes-Benz car leasing customers can also benefit from free parking on the outskirts of town and then make the rest of their way into work on their FoldingBike.
Other bikes in the new Mercedes-Benz 2-wheel range include a limited edition MountainBike and competition standard RacingBike, with only 100 of each bike being made.
Contract hire customers looking for more environmentally friendly transport of the motorised variety can chose from a wide range of BlueEfficiency Mercedes-Benz models. The zero-emission smart fortwo ed – electric drive – will also be available to contract hire next year.
