The new Mercedes SLK-Class has greater muscle under the bonnet than its predecessors. The SLK 350 offers the best performance for a car in its class, accelerating from 0-62 seconds in a whisper over 5.5 seconds.

The 4-cylinder, supercharged SLK 200 enjoys improved performance and a new V6 sports engine debuts in the SLK 350. By raising its rev limit to 6,800rpm, the SLK 350’s engine develops 305hp – 33hp more than the previous model. Both engines, along with the V6 of the SLK 280, deliver better fuel economy and lower CO² emissions than the ones they have replaced.

The Mercedes SLK-Class is fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard (except SLK 55). The world’s first 7-speed automatic transmission, 7G-Tiptronic, is available as an option (standard on SLK 55), providing increased performance and improved fuel economy, by reducing engine speeds. A further option is 7G-Tiptronic Sport, which provides steering wheel mounted gearshift paddles, for even faster and smoother gear transitions.
